Hey, I think I have this caring for a toddler thing all figured out.
16 hours of nap, followed by 8 hours of sleep per night.
There that pretty much handles it :)

I was sorry to hear today that a young man from Snellville was killed in Iraq.
Drew Rahaim. Only 22 years old. Anything I could say here is totally inadequate. I am so sorry for this family's loss.

I am up really early again today. I guess this is my new pattern!
I think it's better to get up and get some stuff done in peace and quiet, rather
than fight natural tendencies. I get up, get some work done, and then I go back to bed and sleep pretty well.
I'm thinking of getting some prints of my artwork done. It's an investment, but it does look like when I sell the prints I would make some good profit. It is too easy though, to look at what the 'profit' looks like, but there is a ton of marketing and work that will go into selling them.
We went to Curriculum Night at the girls' school last night. DD1 was giving a presentation. We were very proud of her! The principal of the middle school was there and gave us the lowdown on what the transition to a new school for 6th grade will be like. She reminded me of a Mary Kay Director, in her business suit. I don't know if I'm reassured or not. Well maybe I just have to get to know her. The Vice Principal was a lot more warm. But I tell myself, the principal is not the teacher who will be directly working with my child anyway. I wish there was a magic pill to remove parental angst.
I'm putting some ads in a small magazine. I really need to get that order form faxed.

Rachel Carson (author of Silent Spring) tried to warn us, but did we listen??

Got up early and tying up some loose ends this morning, I got the money order for UNICEF in the mail - finally. I wanted to scan it before I sent it.
Think about holding your own yard sale for charity! For the final tally, check out http://yardsaleforcharity.blogspot.com

Ok, you good people have good reason to wonder why I haven't been posting to my blog, when I usually do so at least daily. Well, I have been really, really, really tired lately.
Actually, exhaustion is more the word I should use!
I found out 'officially' on Friday, that we are expecting a new addition to our family! The doctor also did an ultrasound and confirmed that it is "just" one baby (we have 11 year old twins and an 18 month old ) so I was greatly relieved. I will scan the ultrasound picture and share it here, when I ever get the energy and time to do so...it's really kind of a blob, because it's so early, so you don't really see much in it.
I thought perhaps the intense tiredness had to do with it being more than one baby...whew!
I started taking the prenatal vitamins, and they have helped a little bit, but I am still super tired.
Then when I sleep, I have the weird pregnancy dreams! Sometimes the toddler wakes me up at 1:30 am or 5 am, so that adds to the tiredness as you can imagine.
I will try to get on here more and post...I have been pretty busy getting art done lately.

Now comes the time of the day that I must make a decision. I am really tired after running after DS (17, almost 18 months old) but I have work to do...not only art work, but laundry (which I have been trying to work on all day) , tidying up (which was starting to work until DS crumbled saltine crackers all over the furniture). I also have trash I need to take out and the dishes are piled up. I also MUST finish up PW's artwork!
DS has been Mr. Active all day long. He didn't take any morning nap. He discovered he could throw the bouncy rubber ball at the fireplace and have it bounce back. So he did that 3,984,001 times (estimated). He has turned the TV on and off 3,005,862 times, opened and closed the door to his room 1,007,354 times. He has fallen down 4 times. I wiped his nose 15 times.
Alright, as you know I am exaggerating, but not much. I think I have just realized that a compromise is in order. We are taking my brother in law out for birthday dinner tonight and I really need to get energized if I'll make it through that late tonight....so I'll nap 1 hour of DS's possible 1-hour nap...then I'll use the 2nd hour of his nap to do some work. Ah, that's the ticket.
DS made me laugh or smile 9,999,999 times or so today, so it's worth it.
Thanks for dropping in,
Darla

This is a bit silly I'll admit...I did this pencil drawing late last year when I was bored at the kitchen table and wanted to just draw something, and it didn't matter what! This is my Pfalzgraff butter dish. I left out the grease smears and the crumbs...! It's great to just sit and sketch something in person, and not from a photograph as it will enhance observation skills.
I really could have used a ruler.... Toast anyone?
